On the third try it finally went; It was both the passage of the start and target trek in Berlin. It was a rather tense runner who sat on the train with direction Oslo, Friday afternoon. The nerves still had not signed up, but it felt that it was anything but a relaxed city break in time. It was not difficult to see that it came many other Berlin travelers too. The atmosphere was special; a mixture tenis of confidence, insecurity, gallows tenis humor and håpefullhet. Arriving we were able to ascertain that the same spirit, influenced the city, and the glorious autumn weather, it was impossible not to get carried away. Saturday morning brought it out of the light morning jog in the Tiergarten. Skier Mona would precaution protect the knees, which almost prevented her from taking part in this adventure, and the spouse would sleep. Astrid, Régis and I was, however, a nice round before breakfast. tenis Then brought it out of Tempelhof to retrieve the starting number and checking sports show there. Astrid and Régis had been there the day before and warned a lot of people, large distances and loud music. Mona and I quickly found out that here it was only with the most important (tag number) and get out again. It was not where we were going to burn our energy. Wallet could draw a sigh of relief.
Start number in the box (bag) and two very excited runners (me and Mona). With our white Berlin marathon bags we strolled around the city, ate at the outdoor restaurant in the lovely sunshine and just enjoyed the pre-marathon rapture. tenis The white bags made it easy to identify who should run, and brought forth many appreciative nod between strangers. Pretty funny that a plastic bag can create such warm feelings of belonging and unity with people from all over the world, in almost all ages, shapes and sizes.
Having slept very poorly the first night in Berlin was important to get some proper charging hours the night before the day. Everything was presented and prepared in the evening so the head would not have to grind all that should be remembered. The light was extinguished at ten o'clock and I fell asleep pretty tenis quickly. Unfortunately I woke up again already 1:30. It was quiet and dark and I was good enough. I felt calm, but sleep would not take me no matter how many runs bones I counted (sheep worked rather tenis not). I saw that the clock was three, but then I have gone out for a while. Just long enough to dream that I overslept and woke thus high stress pulse. After this it only dupping until it was time to get started with preparations at six.
(Mona visualizes enough trail head) Everything was perfect. The sun shone from a cloudless sky, the temperature was about 12 degrees (at 08) and the whole city bristling with eagerness and excitement. The helicopters in the air intensified the experience of being part of something really big. Inside the starting area had crowds lined in neat, self-organized Doko. As the serious runners we were only to take place. That's one of the least pleasant tenis participating in these races, but still a necessity. Then we slipped the masses towards the starting area and our assigned pools based on estimated finish time.
In the space of just my group, with helicopters in action over our heads and the knowledge that the world record holders Haile Gebreselassie (2:03:59) tenis and Paula Radcliffe (2:17:42 and 2:15:25) was in place far up ahead was it is inevitable to feel some nerves. And when the first notes of music running over all running music, Vangelis' "Chariots of fire" poured upon us 40,000 runners, five minutes before the start, the total reaction goosebumps and tears squeezed in behind sunglasses.
Countdown and cheers, and a profusion of red balloons! To start savored. I was the first of three "waves" and could cross the starting line (and restart Garmin) quite exactly five minutes after Haile, Paula and their buddies. Down the 17th of July Street, the Victory Column, the main focus was to place myself in relation to the two yellow 3:30 momentum keeps the balloons. It was pretty tight, but we were quickly up the average speed for 5 minutes. It felt good; No aches. It went easily and smoothly. With over a million spectators and 70 bands were much support to get from the start. Large and small were lined up along the trail. They cried, played instruments, waved and waved posters. While it may not directly encouraging it brought tenis forth many smiles when we saw a homemade poster that proclaimed "Nur noch 38 km" after the first four. Speed balloons I kept up with until the first drink station (at about 5 km). I helped myself to a cup of water and drank continuously. tenis It was not great with time, but the balloons were gone and after this Garmin to my cruise control. Wise damage from Sentrumsløpet in 2010 I controlled at each mile marker on Garmin measured directly, but even at eight kilometers was the difference of 200 meters. Thus, the average speed of the Garmin worth zero. Luckily I'm good at five time (yiihaa) so it was nice to know how I was an. Measurement
