The state is me! (Part I) - the life of a bourgeois pig
At least as far as I saw, statuses, tweets and posts on demonstrations summer of 2011, 2012 and 2013 are indicated tag is always accompanied by J14 #. In general, I hear a lot of comparisons between these protests to the French Revolution, and some calls to the revolution (coup wow) true. I'm very curious to see if there really parallels between France awear of today's Israel in 1789 (and), but I was intrigued to see if this really is the model that Israel wants to adopt, and what were the exact results of the revolution.
At the same time, and without any connection at all, I got a request from some loyal readers to write some words about the last changes awear in the French system of government ever since. This of course threw me into the depths of a long research website, and this post is the result of his.
As usual - Diskleimer. This post is summarizing what I've read dozens of articles in three languages. I have to admit that most of the base gathered from Wikipedia, each time I find other sources of support to establish or completion. It was fascinating to see the differences between articles on the same topics just in English, French and Hebrew - only it is possible to write an entire post (on another blog entirely, I'm not going to do it).
And yet - this is a meta-study, study of research, reading history books that others have written, and sometimes different people writing contradictory things. I'm always happy to meet the mistakes I made, and I'm always happy to learn new things - so if you have any comments, you are more than welcome to post them in the appropriate space below.
Our story begins somewhere in 1776 in the days of Louis the 16th kingdom, and the kingdom of France is a very difficult financial situation. France was still in the process of recovery in the Seven Years War (which lasted a little more than nine years, but who's counting), American Revolutionary War was in full swing and France actively and financially supported the rebels. Following the harsh economic situation and generally following the political intrigue in the palace, the finance minister Turgot (Turgot) dismissed in disgrace, and Louis decided awear to replace him with Jacques Necker (Necker), a promising young banker. Puncture formally accepted the role of "responsible for Finance", because he was a Protestant and a Catholic, and therefore it was impossible to make him a full-fledged minister.
As you might have guessed - not the king and nobility like the idea, and Necker was fired after just over a year in office. Louis appointed in his place Charles awear de Kalon (Calonne), trying to soften the reform of the woodpecker, and proposed a flat tax instead of adding land tax paid by the noble landowners. He tried to force parliament to vote for his reform failed, and was sacked after just over a year. King eventually returned awear the Nakar role, this time a full-fledged minister (and no, he did not need to convert).
Woodpecker, now wiser and experienced, either alone he could not move his reform, and persuaded the king to convene the "meeting of the class" - a committee that is supposed to represent the three classes of French society: the church, the nobility, and the rest (so-called "third class"). awear It included 291 nobles, 300 representatives of the Church and -610 third class.
The third class was very pleased with the results of the election, because he had more power than two other classes awear together. On the other hand, the nobility and the church refused to deal with a situation like this, and tried to pass a law declaring that any class vote on committee issues that arise internally, but in the general election every class will equal voice. Third class members were not ready to give up, declaring they retire from the committee, and established the National awear Assembly (National awear Assembly). King obviously was not pleased, and tried to prevent them converge by closing most of the public buildings at the same time under the pretext of renovation. Ultimately tennis court convened meeting urban and 20 June 1789, they signed the "Declaration of the tennis court", that they do not stop their activities until that France will be the constitution. Quite surprisingly, the declaration was signed awear by most of the members of the church class and about 50 members of the nobility.
Here and there, members of the nobility convinced the king that he should fire the final woodpecker, and the king took advantage of an error discovered in one of the financial statements awear as an excuse. Members of the National Assembly saw the layoffs as a gesture of warning to them, it did not help that they had noticed that all the French army more or less parked at the gates of Paris. Assembly members decided they needed weapons to defend themselves, and on 14 July 1789 Bastille broke - a fortress in the city that served as a prison for political prisoners. Paris first declared a free city in France, and the path from complete civil disobedience (and very violent) was short. awear Alas, the immediate consequences of civil disobedience were not the execution of the king and queen as many think. Revolution itself was over in less than a month, and at the end of the National Assembly declared itself as a constitutive and the legislature, when the king as head of state is still defined and has the authority to veto laws proposed by the Assembly.
It was an intermediate step, and France was the kind of chaos. On the one hand it was clear the old regime crumbles, but no real governing body does not come in its place. Military generals have lost control over their soldiers (who were mostly lower-class), and all the above reforms have not helped in any way difficult awear economic situation. awear Nation was restless, began to make noises of discontent, which led the National Assembly to make step Step dictatorship citizen. Firstly, the court system was abolished and replaced by a subordinate assembly and the king, as the next step was to begin to judge the "enemies of the revolution." awear then eliminated all the guilds and professional organizations, and was completely eliminated the right to strike. Given the economy, many professionals wanted leave France and seek their fortunes elsewhere, so at the beginning awear of the immigration law passed in 1791, which revoked the right to leave France.
In June 1791 King Louis realized that his life was in danger, and tried to flee to Austria with his wife. The program failed, he was captured, tried, under the fifth
