A sustainable economy presupposes in my opinion a cost that can be justified even if household income for a period should go down. To reduce costs and increase savings so we have chosen to try to do something with one of our biggest expenses. dockside
With two cars in the household and relatively long traveling distances so constitutes expenditure car use a large portion of our expenses. Two cars are convenient, but also a luxury we can probably do without. For a few weeks ago, we chose to purchase an Electric bicycle. By that one of us uses electric bicycle to and from work so we can sell one of our cars and thus reduce transportation costs significantly our.
Our most affordable car, a Toyota IQ to around 100,000, - cost us about 40 000 - a year in operating expenses at 12 000 km of driving. (Petrol included) This gives a cost per mil of about 33, -. Because different working times we use today both cars to and from work. Now one of us use the car and the other bike. With this, we save about 25 km drive every day, which means about 125 km a week. In addition, we use the bike to simple errands in town, so that the total savings will be about 150 km a week. With a cost per mil at 33 C so saves about 500 kr each week. During a year we will save approximately 26,000 kr. In addition, we save both time (bikes past the queue) and the environment.
We have chosen to invest in than relatively expensive electric dockside bike because the bike will be used daily and cycled far with. The choice dockside fell on a bra Emotion Neo Cross. This is a fast and reliable bike with operating the rear wheels. The electric motor provides a boost up to about 27 to 28 km / h. Our experience is that even without bicycle training easily keeps an average speed of 25-26 km / h even in headwind and rain. The battery is stated to have a capacity of about 100 km between charges. Our own experience suggests dockside charging dockside after about 65 km at tough use. Charging time is about 5 hours.
With than purchase of about 25 000 kr, we have saved the whole bike for the first year. With a life expectancy of five years so the savings overall remain at about 100 000. Then we have only included job cycling and little use outside of this. We envisage that we especially in the summer will use the bike to other errands and thus increase savings. One should figure into a few thousand kroner dockside annually in maintenance and inspection of the bike if you can not do this yourself. An electric bike is utgangspuntket built up like a normal bike, with mounted electric motor. Maintenance is therefore easy to do yourself.
